In AltitudeVario thrust mode, the transmitter stick controls the vertical speed.
In AltitudePosition thrust mode, the transmitter stick would directly control the vertical position. Reason is that if I want to fly under a tree limb, currently I must reduce thrust to decend, and then increase it to stop the decent. With the new mode, I get used to how much stick equals how much vertical distance, and just put the stick where I know it needs to be.
Could also be done with some GPS modes like VelocityRoam.
alessiomorale 3:20 PM could be useful also indoor
liftbag 5:08 PM @theothercliff: some Blade multirotors, like the 350QX already have a similar altitude control mode. The throttle stick controls the altitude position in a range of 30mt. Position zero throttle is to land and max throttle is for an altitude of 30 meters. Don’t know if this is what you mean.
